Scruffy tennis star rejected by flashy watchmaker
Earlier this week, we told you about Andy Murray’s new earning power, now that he has broken into the elite “big four” of men’s tennis. Well, it seems not all sponsors are queuing up to buy a piece of the bumfluffed Scot.
Rolex, who sponsor the immaculately groomed Roger Federer, said that Murray was not exactly the sort of frontman they had in mind: “No. He’s not really our thing,” a Rolex spokesman said, when asked by Holy Moly! if the company would consider having Murray as a brand ambassador. Charming.
