Faldo gets some belated Ryder Cup advice…
As if the last few days hadn’t been bad enough for Europe’s beleaguered Ryder Cup Captain, Colin Montgomerie has dug the knife in further, criticising Faldo’s decision to send three of his biggest names out last in Sunday’s singles.
“I’d have voiced concerns that Poulter, Westwood and Harrington are probably our three top players and they might not be involved in the Ryder Cup singles, as was the case. Play them earlier and they would have been involved 100%.”
Montgomerie meanwhile has backed Sandy Lyle to lead Europe to success in 2010, claiming “there’s no other outstanding candidate.” Whatever happens, it certainly won’t be Faldo making the bold decisions at Celtic Manor in two years time.
